INTRODUCTION
AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM THE TEXAS EDUCATION AGENCY

Please read and watch carefully in order to receive credit for your driver safety course completion.
You have the option of taking a driver safety course to dismiss a traffic violation and receive up to a 10% discount on certain types of automobile insurance coverage.
The law requires that all driver safety courses cost a minimum of twenty-five dollars and be six hours in length to dismiss a traffic violation.
You will be signing a statement on your certificate that you have taken the six-hour driver safety course. If you sign this statement fraudulently, you could be charged with tampering with a government document which carries a penalty of two to 10 years in prison and a fine not to exceed $10,000.
The law states that the definition of a driver safety course is a course of instruction intended to improve a driver's knowledge, perception, and attitude toward driving. If you believe that this course did not provide you with accurate information, you need to inform the Texas Education Agency.
It is very important that all the information you gave during the registration for this course is accurate. This information will be used to print and mail your certificate to you. If you left out any address information, like an apartment number or zip code, the post office may not deliver the certificate. If you have the certificate sent to an address other than your own, and you didn't indicate "in care of" a person who lives at that address, the post office may not deliver the certificate.
The certificate must be mailed to you, not to the court.

You will be given the opportunity to review and/or change your registration information at any time before the completion of this course.
The court information is very important and will be printed on the certificate. You must include the name of the justice of the peace or city municipal court as it appears on your citation.
Pay close attention to the date the court gives you in which to appear. Abide by that date so that you don't end up with a warrant for your arrest. Follow the order of the court even if you have not received your certificate.
State law requires that the certificate be mailed to you within 21 calendar days from the date you complete the course. Open the certificate you get in the mail carefully, and make sure to retain both your court and insurance copies.
Contact WebTrafficSchool.com at (800)574-1561 if you did not receive your certificate in order that the school may determine if it was returned in the mail. Contact the Texas Education Agency at (512) 997-6523 if you accidentally misplaced your certificate to request a duplicate.
State law says that if you observe any fraudulent activity occurring during any driver safety course to report it to the Texas Education Agency. You could receive a reward up to $500 for information regarding the selling of certificates or early dismissal of classes if it leads to revocation of a license or a criminal conviction in a court of law. In order to be eligible for the reward, a person must supply enough information to initiate an investigation, which leads to a revocation or conviction.
No one knows exactly when the first car crash actually occurred. But the first reported crash occurred on May 30, 1896 in New York City. As you might expect, it wasn't long after that before America had its first traffic fatality. That sad occasion took place on September 13, 1899, in--where else--New York City. And that was even before they had taxicabs.
Well, those automobile accidents must have been contagious because, since then, traffic safety in this country has gone straight downhill.
· Traffic fatalities have claimed more lives in the U.S. than all the wars in our history.

· Since 1776, almost 1.2 million Americans have lost their lives in wars.

· American highways have become one of the most dangerous places on earth. And if statistics hold true, more than 40,000 people die on the roads every year.

· Did you know that's nearly as many fatalities as the longest conflict in our history? Over 56,000 American personnel died in Vietnam.
WELCOME!
This is the USA Driver Safety Course, presented by WebTrafficSchool.com, with your host, Louie Bumper.
Hi, I'm Louie Bumper. For those of you who know me, perhaps you're thinking, "Wait a minute. What is this? A talk show? A cable special? Isn't this the guy who barks like a dog?"
And for those of you who are saying, "Who is this guy ?" ...well, you're probably better off not knowing.
Although my profession is trying to make people laugh, I have a different job to do in the next few hours. We're all going to be attending traffic safety school together, thanks to the "USA Driver Safety Course" and WebTrafficSchool.com. From time to time I'll be around helping things to move along.
I know it seems like a lot of time, but I promise I'll try to make it as painless as possible. But, before we get down to serious business, I have a few notes that I've made here: there are a couple of things that you should know. One thing involves cheating. It's definitely not a good idea.
Any attempt to circumvent this state approved driver safety program may result in:
1. Loss of certificate of course completion
2. Payment of court fines
3. Higher insurance premiums
4. Forfeiture of payment for this program
Validation mechanisms are in place that prevent circumvention of this program. Any attempt to circumvent the USA Driver Safety Course provided by WebTrafficSchool.com may result in the loss of your certificate of course completion, payment of court fines, higher insurance premiums, and forfeiture of the payment you made for this program.

This course focuses on the rules of the road, immediate action drills for life-threatening situations, wearing safety belts, and the importance of not drinking and driving.
By the way, if you have any questions regarding what you see or hear during this program, you can access a live instructor by calling the number 1-800- 574-1561. He or she can help you in areas where you may have some difficulties or just need a friendly ear to talk to. So, let's get started.
THE GOAL AND THE RESULT
The USA Driver Safety Course provided by WebTrafficSchool.com is an intensive safe-driving program that's been designed to help licensed drivers react better to driving situations.

THE GOAL OF DRIVER IMPROVEMENT is to eliminate traffic crashes, or to reduce their severity.

The ultimate goal of this program is to help reduce the number of traffic crashes and keep the loss of life and property to a minimum.

THE RESULT

  • Save lives

THE RESULT

  • Save lives
  • Reduce injuries

THE RESULT

  • Save lives
  • Reduce injuries
  • Make you a safer driver
As more drivers successfully complete the program, the number of traffic crashes will decrease--along with the fatalities, injuries, and economic losses they cause--by making you a safer, more observant driver.
Much of what you see and hear during this program deals with human behavior. Safe driving is greatly influenced by our behavior behind the wheel.

Programs like the USA Driver Safety Course provided by WebTrafficSchool.com have been developed to give drivers sufficient motivation to change the behavior that causes unsafe driving.
Most humans are rational beings. When they're shown the possible consequences of their behavior and given reasonable alternatives, more often than not, they attempt to change their behavior.

The key is being able to control our behavior when we get behind the wheel of our car. But sometimes that's easier said than done, especially when you consider that behavior is controlled more by our subconscious--our feelings and our emotions--than by our conscious thinking.
The more you're aware of your emotions and feelings, the greater control you'll have over them, and the more rational your driving behavior will be.

The USA Driver Safety Course will help give you a better understanding of the factors that control your behavior, which can help make you a safer driver.
Armed with a greater insight into your own behavior, you'll have a better understanding of other drivers as well. And as you'll see later in the program, that's an important part of being able to identify potential problems, anticipate what the other guy might do, decide the best way to avoid the problem, and take the right action to get out of harm's way.
Taking right action can help save lives, reduce injuries, lower the economic costs associated with traffic crashes, and generally make the road safer to everyone.
COURSE CREDIT REQUIREMENTS
To receive credit for this driver improvement course, you must successfully complete the following:

1) 300 minutes of instruction--the time required by the state for successful completion of this course.
2) Validation that you completed each segment of the program without assistance from another person. If we are unable to validate your participation, you will be disqualified and will not receive a certificate of course completion.
And you must receive a grade of 70% correct or more on the exam at the end of the program.

FINAL COURSE EVALUATION

At the end of the program, you will have the opportunity to evaluate the course and make any suggestions you feel are appropriate. Also, from time to time, we will randomly contact students for a critique of the program. Your response is important, since it gives us the feedback to monitor the effectiveness of the program and continually improve it. Your cooperation will be appreciated.
