do I turn off Call Waiting?
We
strongly recommend that you disable call waiting. Otherwise, incoming
calls could interrupt your modem connection and force you to retake
a section of the course.
Windows
95 users
- Click
the "Start" button
- From
the Settings menu choose "Control Panel"
- Double
click on the "Modems" icon
- Click
the "Dialing Properties" button
- Check
the "This location has call waiting" box and select
the appropriate option (this depends on your telephone service,
most frequently *70 is the necessary prefix)
- Press
the "OK" button to apply the changes and close the dialog
boxes
Windows
95 with AOL
- After
starting AOL click the "Setup" button on the "Welcome"
dialog box.
- Choose
your location and press the "Edit Location" button
- Check
the "Use the following command for disable call waiting"
box and enter command (this depends on your telephone service,
most frequently the prefix is *70)
- Press
the "Save" button to apply the changes
Macintosh
users
- Open
your internet dialer
- Type
*70, in front of your local access number
